What's in the Hole?
Know the breed before you take the pup!
Think about a Golden Retriever or a Cocker Spaniel who encounters a deep, dark, claustrophobic hole. At the bottom is a seething, raging, red-eyed, salivating, snarling creature. Most dogs might say to themselves,"Oooooh, I bet this 'person' doesn't want me here." And after a cautious investigation, the dog will leave. But most terriers, even at a very young age -- every one, to a "man" -- say:
"BONSAI !!!!! I'M COMING IN!!!!!!"
Their little eyes are shining with anticipation and their tails are wagging with joy, because the possibility of a truly awesome rumble -- all-out-to-the-death, hand-to-hand combat in close claustrophobic quarters -- is in the offing.
It's not so much that what they do that's frightening, but that they are truly happiest and most alive when they are doing this. This analogy alone should prevent anyone from wanting a go-to-ground terrier. However, there are some of us who like this living-on-the-edge feeling. And so, like idiots, we choose small, fierce, yet cheerful, monsters dressed in dog suits for our pets.

Piper gave birth on August 29th to 1 girl and 3 boys. In the photo below, the girl is on the right side. Mother and babies are doing well!
Salishan Ellie x Forget-Me-Not Parker
Ellie's litter is finally here! The litter we've been waiting on between Salishan Ellie x Forget-Me-Not Parker has arrived. Two boys and two girls born 09-12-08. One of the girls has been sold already as there has been great interest in this cross. Here are the ones still available: The girl is the one with the "smile".
Sweetgrass Blink x Salishan Talc
Sweetgrass Blink, who is mom to "Brew" (the flower child) has outdone herself this time when paired up with Salishan Talc. On 9-10-08, Blink had two boys and a girl. Every one of them has the spot on the base of the tail, with masks and eye patches. Let's hope they turn out as nice as Brew did. Photos later (when they don't look like little blobs!).
