Jack Russell Terrier Club of America Logo

This is the website for the Jack Russell Terrier Club of America. We fully support their ideals in "Preserving, Protecting, and Working" the Jack Russell Terrier. This is the largest breed club in the world for the Jack Russell and, in my opinion, the finest. Read about their unique registry, the history of the terrier, and take the survey to see if a Jack Russell is in your future. They are not the dog for everyone! As Catherine Brown so aptly put it, "They are thugs in clown suits"!

Annie - Russell Rescue

A sad fact about the popularity of the breed is that so many unwittingly think that they are getting "Eddie" of the TV sitcom fame. Nothing could be further from the truth and this is why Russell rescue is bursting at the seams. Educate yourself about the breed and their strong hunting instincts before buying. Or better yet, rescue a terrier and give it a "forever home." Photo shown is Catherine Brown, the founder of Russell Rescue, with Sweetgrass Annie (Briarpatch Temper x Treetop Twiggy). All donations to Russell Rescue, Inc., are tax deductible.

The Jack Russell Terrier Research Foundation encourages, promotes, and supports the development and maintenance of research on genetic defects found in the Jack Russell Terrier by making gifts or grants to other non-profit organizations engaged in similar research. This is a matter that should be near and dear to all terrier owner's hearts. I learned firsthand the devastating effect of PLL (Primary Lens Luxation) when Fox Run Reba (Stryder's Arrow x Fox Run Choice) was diagnosed with it. PLL is excruciatingly painful and Reba's eyes had to be removed as a result of the disease. She is an incredibly resilient terrier and is living very happily on our farm. You would never know she is blind as she runs around our acreage with the other terriers. Please make a tax deductible donation to the JRTRF. Our terrier's health depends on it!

Terri Batzer

Little did I know that when I made the decision for Briarpatch Temper to be our foundation sire, that I would also be making a lifelong friendship. Jack and Terri Batzer are totally focused on the welfare of the Jack Russell as a hunting dog. Their strong committment to the breed are second to none. Jack, as a working judge, introduced me to the terrier as a working breed and I've been out in the field with him too many times to mention. I look up to them as my mentors, but also as my friends.

Lois - Salishan Terriers
Everyone should be so lucky as to have a friend like Lois at Salishan Terriers. From our weekly terrier walks out in the fields, hunting trips back east, to our very looooooooong road trips, and a shoulder to cry on when the going gets tough, she's always been there. She also has some pretty nice terriers! You're pretty special, Louie!
