If it should come that I grow weak,
And pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then you must do what must be done,
For this battle cannot be won.
You will be sad, I understand,
Don't let your grief then stay your hand,
For this day more than all the rest,
Your love for me must stand the test.
We've had so many happy years,
What is to come can hold no fears,
You would not want me to suffer so,
The time has come, please let me go.
Take me where my needs they'll tend,
And please stay with me until the end,
Hold me firm and speak to me,
Until my eyes no longer see.
The kindness that you did for me,
Although my tail the last has waved,
From pain & suffereing I've been saved,
Please do not grieve, it must be you,
Who had this painful thing to do.
We've been so close, we two these years,
Don't let your heart hold back its tears.
-- A dear friend |

Anyone who knows me will tell you I
am absolutely mental about this terrier. She is one of my best
hunting dogs, my bed dog, my car dog, and the house princess.
Not only has she earned the JRTCA's highest honor, the Bronze
Medallion, she also competes in agility. When she came down with
an acute case of pyometra, the decision was made to spay her.
Personally, I think Sarah did this on purpose, so she wouldn't
have any little Sarah's running around!

Pebbles was our first terrier out of our foundation
bitch, Treetop Twiggy. If I had known anything about terriers
back then, I probably would've spayed her and sold her as a
pet. But as it turns out, everything happens for a reason. Pebbles
has been the most incredible producer from very limited breedings.
She has produced amazing all-around athletes and, even though
she has never earned an NHC, has hunted successfully herself
and produced working terriers with incredible prey drive Sweetgrass
Sarah (Bronze Medallion), Sweetgrass Willow (NHC to Groundhog and Racoon). Look
for one last litter from "Bubbles" (as she is affectionately
called) sometime this summer.

Twiggy is the matriarch and foundation
bitch of our terrier family. She came from the working kennel
of Catherine Brown and it was through the "Twiginator" that
I met and am enjoying one of my closest friendships. It's amazing
how the love of our terriers brings so many people together.
Twiggy's pedigree has some of the oldest working blood in the
United States. Twiggy has passed that on to her daughter, Pebbles,
who is continuing the tradition.

Bailey is one of the most elegant terriers I have
ever seen. Everything about Bailey is beautiful, including
her personality. Bailey is probably one of our most winning
terriers from Puppy Champion to multiple Working Terrier Championships. But
Bailey did have a downside and that was whelping. Not only
did she have silent heats, but with one horn closed, she always
had to have a c-section. Her last litter produced only
two pups, one of which was a girl (Sweetgrass Blink). Shortly
afterwards, Bailey came down with an acute case of pyometra and
was spayed. We're fortunate to still have Blink to carry
on.
