Sherri with Champion Kaddy
|
The last three trials that we have gone to have been very, very good to us! We started off in Estes Park, Colorado on Sunday Salishan Gator was reserve Working Terrier Dog. Rancho Fiasco Kaddy was Best Working Bitch, then went on to be Working Terrier Champion. They then take the Open Puppy Champion, Open Terrier Champion, and the Working Terrier Champion, who compete to be the Champion of Champions. KADDY WON IT!! It was a very special win for us, made even more special that two of Temper's offspring did so well!
The next trial was the Rainier Hunt Classic. Under Bob Clough, Salishan Gator was Best Working Dog, with his half-sister, Kaddy, as Reserve Working Bitch. Gator went on to be Working Terrier Champion. This win was very special. It has taken me almost five years to come to grips with losing Libby. She was one of the best working terriers I've ever had, so I donated a bronze in her memory. The first terrier to win this bronze was a half-brother to her.
Sweet little Brew won her class and went on to be Best Open Bitch with Bob commenting "I'd like to take that one out hunting!"
Two days after Rainier saw us hitting the road again for Douglas, Wyoming. This was the first time for me to attend Erin Schwartzkopf's "Cowboy Classic" and it probably won't be the last. Although a small trial, there were some of the nicest terriers on the west coast there. On Sunday with Elizabeth Gleason judging, Salishan Gator was reserve Working Terrier Dog. Rancho Fiasco Kaddy was best Working Terrier Bitch (SHE BEAT BISLEY!!) with the girls taking top honor. Elizabeth Gleason has THE highest standards when it comes to grooming. She told me that Kaddy's coat was awesome, so I'd personally like to thank Dawn Weiss for my grooming lessons. You see Dawn, you can teach an old dog new tricks!!

While at the trial in Wyoming, we got Kaddy and Knotty together for a mother/daughter portrait. Gee, you can't tell they're related, can you?

Canine Eye Registration Foundation
One
of the most prevalent genetic problems with Jack Russell Terriers
are eye problems. Any reputable
breeder will have their terriers CERF'd (Canine Eye
Registration Foundation) yearly and should be able
to show you those results upon request. If they don't,
you as a buyer should run as fast as you can the other way!
I am very happy to report that all the Sweetgrass terriers used
for breeding purposes passed their yearly CERF exams. Hallelujah!
